Editor's review

Calculations of straight, maximum three times static indefinite beams with constant axis-symmetrical profiles. Simple definition of the beam type, 20 types of cross sections, graphic illustration of the moment, stress, deflection and bending angle simplifies calculations.

Pros: This is an application for calculating beam load situations. MITCalc is a set of engineering, industrial, and technical calculations for your day-to-day routines. It will reliably, precisely, and most of all quickly guide you through the design of components, the solution of a technical problem, or a calculation of an engineering point without any significant need for expert knowledge. This is integrated with MS Excel and helps calculate straight, 3 times static indefinite beams with constant axis-symmetrical loads. Calculate details in imperial and metric units. It is possible to calculate area characteristics of 20 odd beam cross sections. Defining of type of beams and its loading with visual check is available, calculations of reactions at the beam supports and min/max bending moment calculation, stress and deflection as well as bending angle of the loaded beam can be done quite easily. Graphic illustration of moment Stress, deflection and bending angle of the beam is possible. To help calculate these factors easily material tables have W, S, C, L profiles are according to ANSI/AISC and I,U, L and T profiles according to DIN/ISO support the calculations. Standards such as DIN 1025, 1026, 1028, 1029, 1024 are supported.

The program is easy to learn. Besides it has comprehensive help documentation. This is further supported by “expert notes” that include tips of experienced people. It works with many CAD systems such as AutoCAD LT, IntelliCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Pro/Engineer etc. To draw a designed solution in 2D or insert correspondent 3D models and their assemblies is a matter of seconds.

Cons: This is meant for users with knowledge of relevant domain but is quite easy to use if you do have the understanding.

Overall: Simple to use application that helps with engineering calculations this is a 4 star package.

Publisher's description

The application is designed for calculations of straight, maximum three times static indefinite beams with constant
axis-symmetrical profiles. Application is developed in MS Excel, is multi-language, supports Imperial and Metric units
and solves the following main tasks:
- Simple definition of the type of beam and its loading with visual check.
- Calculation of area characteristics of 20 types of cross sections.
- Calculation of reactions in supports.
- Calculation of minimum / maximum bending moment, stress and deflection of the beam.
- Calculation and graphic illustration of the moment, stress, deflection and bending angle of the loaded beam.
The application includes a table of materials and a table of area characteristics of W, S, C, L profiles acc. to
ANSI/AISC and I, U, L a T profiles acc. to DIN/ISO.
Used standards: DIN 1025, 1026, 1028, 1029, 1024, AISC W, S, C, L, LUThis module is a part of MITCalc -
